The last time the Beatles played together was August 29 1966. The last movie Robin Williams acted in was Night at the museum: Secret of the tomb in 2014. Husein Bolts last public run was August 12 2017 and the last time I spoke to my dear friend was January 13 2023. She died a week later from a stroke.
My friend was 96 when she died. My daughter had spotted her at the gym (can you believe?) a week prior to her death and persuaded me to come to chat to her. Rather than running off to do the next thing on my list, I took 10 minutes from my busy day to chat. We spoke about simple things, her phone not working, a friend she reconnected with. Simple yet, without realizing it, the most significant words I'd hear from her as they were the her last words she'd ever speak to me. I'm so glad I took the time.
As for every up there must be a down, and for every high a low, then the same holds true that for every first time there must be a last. But we forget don't we, and we take for granted this life and these people who in the moment we believe will be there forever. There will always be a last time. If we can just remember to keep this in mind, to really be completely present, to soak it all up, to take time to do the small cherished things, then we will truly appreciate so much more the ups, the highs and the firsts without any regrets.
Beautifully said, you are wise beyond your years ❤️
