"In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer" - A Camus

I used to be a pretty decent tennis player back in my youth. Played for the school team and during university. I followed pro tennis too as a youngster. Those were the days of John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors, Chris Evert Lloyd and the lot. I have fond memories watching Wimbledon back in the 80s with the family. The good old days.

And then marriage and children happened. Who had time for tennis plus my wrists got sore from holding a baby that weighed a ton. Before I knew it, the tennis racquet found its' way into the cupboard to be ignored and to gather dust.

Fast forward 18 years and my daughter is now interested in tennis and she wants to play with me (what a treat). So out came the racquet, heavier than I remembered and to the courts we go. I tell you this, it wasn't like riding a bicycle. It's taken me a good few weeks to recognize some of those decent shots I used to play back in my youth. I'm far from what I ever was, plus my knees get sore from all the running my daughter makes me do. But the fun, oh the fun. I had forgotten.

"To everything there is a season" and each season teaches us lessons about ourselves other people and life in general. It's often the case, that once season is done, it's gone and life moves forward. But sometimes without expectation an old season comes knocking back on our door whether it be an old hobby, a friend from the past or a wonderful feeling long forgotten. It teaches us to never say " goodbye" rather "until we meet again". You too may be dusting something out that cupboard that you thought was from a season past. Be pleasantly surprised and just go have fun!
